Plant protection against Insects based on Beauveria Isolate

New endophytic fungal isolate for plant protection against herbivorous insects.
Projekt Summary (PDF) [more...]
Efficient Digester with Integrated Heating and Stirring Device

Optimization of biogasprodction with regard to process and to costs is proposed by using integrated heating and stirring device (iHSD).

Wood Technology
Softwood with increased Hardness and Durability

Scientists at the University of Göttingen developed new compounds and a treatment, wherein domestic softwoods like e.g. Pinus radiata, pine or beech achieve the durability, hardness and stability of top-quality tropical woods. The compounds cross-link under pressure the cellulose fibers inside the wood. Thus the useful properties and performance of tropical woods are achieved, while the treated wood can still be normally processed.

Reduction of the Formaldehyd Emission of wood composites through use of Silane Derivatives

Reduction of the Formaldehyd Emission from wood composites through use of Silane Derivatives.

Mediators for the enzymatic production of wood composites and timber products

Scientists at the University of Göttingen identified a new use of Mediators and developed a binder-free production procedure of wood composites and timber products using enzymes in combination with the mediators.

Light weighted (insulating) boards

Scientists at the University of Göttingen developed new insolating board based on very light wood composites replacing wood in a high percentage with a renewable source. They achieve a low density and less amount of adhesives is required.

Wood Plastic Composites (WPC), OSB, chipboards and particle boards with higher durability and quality

Scientists at the University of Göttingen developed a novel timber protecting composition based on fatty acids and paraffin derivatives for protecting Wood Plastic Composites (WPC), chipboards and  particle boards. Particularly the durability and quality is increased. Developed was a pre-treatment of the lignocellulosic material by paraffines containing an alumina catalyst or by activated fatty acids. These residues contain N-methylol groups as a reactive group, and do not only adhere to the basic material, but chemically react with the hydroxyl groups of lignocellulosic material and remain covalently bound to the material.

Pest Control
Plant protection against Insects based on Beauveria Isolate

New endophytic fungal isolate for plant protection against herbivorous insects.
Projekt Summary (PDF) [more...]
Insecticide-free pest control of MedFly with transgenic Fruit Fly

The Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly, Ceratitis capitata) is one of the most harmful food pests. Scientists at the University of Göttingen developed a new pest control:  novel reproductive sterility system for the Medfly, based on transgenic embryonic lethality, without the need of radiation.
